Shrimpers 0 U’s 0

Before this match United boss Herve Renard said he would be happy with a point, and that is what he got. Maybe we should have been a bit more adventurous against a Southend side who had only one goal and one point from their first three games, but an away point is always welcome. The fans were a bit surprised at the £16.50 for entrance to a ground which lacks good facilities or even a good view from the away end. Keeper John Ruddy put in his usual good performance and substitute Matt Robinson looked very useful.

Watch From The Best Seat In The Ground

If you would like to get really close to the action there is now an opportunity to become a stretcher bearer at home games. The club are looking to recruit extra people to this position. If you are interested contact Ant Coole at the club by post or email web@cambridge-united.co.uk. Full training will be provided.

Next At The Abbey

On Saturday, United are at home to Swansea City, kick off 3pm. On Monday the team travel to Darlington for a 3pm bank holiday game. Darlington have a new ground which they say is “not the biggest but the best in the league”. Any United fans travelling to Darlington can purchase tickets in advance from the Cambridge ticket office before Saturday’s game for a £2 discount.
