Last Game?

On Saturday Cambridge United played their last game of the season and, if the club can’t raise £250,000 over the coming months, they could have played their last game ever. The fan’s trust CFU have now three members on the board and the trust are leading fundraising efforts among the fans. What really gives Cambridge fans hope is knowing that the CFU board members have a record of efficiently organising CFU, of raising finance for the club and of spotting these financial problems three years ago.

Ticket Prices for The Conference Announced

The club have announced the ticket and season ticket prices for next season, they are available at the club’s official website www.cambridge-united.com. Finance director Nick Pomery emphasized the importance of buying your season ticket early by saying "Our playing budget for next season is based on 1,350 season ticket sales, which gives us a bare minimum squad. Every season ticket above that will allow us to improve the quality and depth of the squad, but we will not spend what we can't afford. Our target is to sell 1,750 tickets, about the same as last season; this will allow us to set a playing budget comparable with other top half Conference teams.

So buy your season ticket early and help the fundraising whenever you can. Then hopefully we will be watching Cambridge United playing successfully in the conference next season.

Administration!

Just when United fans were thinking “At least nothing worse can happen”, something worse did happen. Following the sale of the ground, a few months ago, to clear the club’s debt, the board announced that they were now £900,000 in debt and couldn’t come up with a plan to pay this back. The Football League have deducted 10 points from the team and administrators are now in charge at the club. Finance Director and CFU membe Nick Pomery has said that the club need to raise £250,000 before the start of next season to stay in business.

1 – 0 To The Conference Side

The latest song from the Cambridge fans provides the title for this paragraph. Our very last away match of the season gave us our first away win of the season. The winner against Rushden and Diamonds came from a Tess Bramble penalty, our first penalty of the season. Amazingly U’s fans provided a party mood in The AirWair Stand with the party theme of “We’re going down but we’ll be back”.

On Saturday

3pm on Saturday is kick off time for United’s last League game. Expect another party like atmosphere as The U’s give a temporary wave goodbye to The Football League and look forward to new challenges next season. The day will start with a march from Cambridge’s market square, fans are asked to assemble in front of the Guildhall at 1pm. The march should start at 1.30pm and arrive at the ground for 2.15pm. All Cambridge fans are welcome.
