Two Wins In One Week

I can’t remember the last time United won two games in a week, but it was worth waiting for. The Tuesday night win against promotion favourites Hereford was covered by Sky TV and still pulled in a good crowd. On Saturday Accrington Stanley, again one of the better conference teams, visited The Abbey and went down to a 3 – 1 defeat.

New Kit Available

To allow supporters to get their new kit as soon as possible following delivery, the club shop will be open on Saturday 28th August between 9.30am and 12 noon, which will be the first opportunity for supporters to buy their new replica kit, before the Away Travel coach departs for Gravesend & Northfleet.
Supporters will also be able to purchase the new kit before and after United's home game two days later, on Bank Holiday Monday against Kidderminster.

Next at The Abbey

As mentioned above, the team are away at Gravesend in Kent on Saturday but return to The Abbey on Bank Holiday Monday to play Kidderminster, kick off is at 3pm. This game is the start of three games in a row against former league sides. The next two games are away against York and Exeter.

Welcome to The Nationwide Conference

After a summer break when it looked as if the club would not be starting a new season most fans were happy enough just to see the team run out for their first game in the Nationwide Conference. Thanks to hard work by the fans trust CFU and a crucial intervention by Richard Caborn, the Minister for Sport, we still have a team to support this season.

Forest Green Rovers 1 United 0

Forest Green are widely expected to be in the relegation places come next May, but a battling performance gave them the points against a United side who managed ten shots on goal but failed to score (how many times did I write something similar season). FGR had the home advantage half the crowd were travelling Cambridge supporters. Midfielder David Bridges, back in a Cambridge shirt after a short break, was Man of The Match with the kind of performance we all knew he was capable of.

Next At The Abbey

On Saturday Accrington Stanley visit The Abbey. Accrington have started well with a home win against Canvey Island last week. United need to gain some points to prevent a recurrence of the depression of last season which affected both players and fans.
