Scarborough 1 United 2
After a season of poor away form Cambridge have made it two away wins in a month. Just a few days after manager Rob Newman called on the team to lose their away phobia they put together an impressive win at struggling Scarborough. The three points took United into 10th place and a certain top twelve finish which will qualify the team for a place in the LDV Trophy next season.
United Away Travel Player of the Year and Race Night
The Cambridge United Away Travel Player of the Year and Race Night is this Saturday, 29th April. However, this year it will be a Race Night with a difference. Instead of horses you will be watching and betting on Snail Racing. Admission is £2.50 and this includes Admission and a Snail. The event will take place in the Harris Suite. A Fish and Chip Supper will be available to purchase on the evening. So heads down and Snails away for the Away Travel Race Night. Saturday sees the last match of the season. With the team finishing the season strongly, four wins in five games, and the visit of one of our nearest rivals, Dagenham and Redbridge, this should be a good occasion to come along and applaud the side’s progress.

Cambridge 2 York City 0
The team had a good home win against a York City side fighting for a play off place. For once United performed well in front of a large crowd attracted by Friday night football. Manager Rob Newman called the performance “outstanding from the keeper to the forwards” with special praise for goalscorer Craig Westcarr and Jamie Guy.
Season Tickets Now Available
Season ticket forms were distributed at the York game and supporters are urged to sign up quickly. Next season’s playing budget will be largely determined by early season ticket sales.

The VP Club is holding an End of Season Disco in the Harris Suite on Friday 28th April. The disco is being done by Steve Line, who has recently held several very successfully discos at the club. The night begins at 8.00pm and will go on until late. Tickets are just Five Pounds, and everyone is welcome to dance the night away. Tickets are available from the club offices.

Saturday saw United’s biggest away win of the season. Despite finding themselves a goal down at half time the team produced a brilliant second half come back which started with a goal by Haverhill teenager Michael Morrison. This was Michael’s fourth goal of the season and came again from a corner.
Management Team Sign Contracts
In a positive move for next season United manager Rob Newman and assistant Tony Spearing have signed new contracts for 2006/07. "We are delighted Rob and Tony have signed for next season," commented Chairman Terry Baker. "The club has been through a turbulent time and needs stability in order to progress. Supporters won't be able to see what goes on behind the scenes, but we have been impressed by the commitment Rob and Tony have shown to the club over the last nine months.” Rob Newman has said he now wants to concentrate on signing 18 quality players to push for promotion next season.

There are now just two more home matches this season. The next is this Friday night against York City. York are well placed to earn a play off position so will be fighting hard for the points. Kick off is at 19.45.
